Information for Students

The courses offered at BandLeadership.com give you comprehensive band leadership training online. These courses include a wide range of topics specific to leadership in band programs including group psychology, problem solving, motivational concepts, discipline concerns and issues, team work, teaching techniques for drill and sectionals, communication, positive role modeling, current trends and issues in leadership, self-analysis and improvement, conflict resolution, delegation, and task and goal management.

You will have access to reading material and activities on these topics, direct access to the instructors, the opportunity to participate in live online sessions, access to audio and video lectures, and the ability to interact with a talented group of mentors that are recent high school graduates experienced with the issues that you will face as a leader in your band program.

While we do not discourage you from participating in summer camps and leadership workshops, we do believe that taking a leadership course offers some significant advantages. The first and most obvious advantage is cost. We have provided a cost comparison page to show how our courses compare to attending other camps and workshops. From a learning perspective, taking a leadership course online provides 4 months of instructions while most camps and workshops last 2-6 days. This gives you time to absorb, process, think, discuss, and question the leadership instruction. And since our courses overlap with most band camps and marching season you can receive help on leadership issues as they are happening to you in your band program.
