Information for Directors
The courses offered at BandLeadership.com give your students comprehensive leadership training online. These courses include a wide range of topics specific to leadership in band programs including group psychology, problem solving, motivational concepts, discipline concerns and issues, team work, teaching techniques for drill and sectionals, communication, positive role modeling, current trends and issues in leadership, self-analysis and improvement, conflict resolution, delegation, and task and goal management.
Students not only have access to reading material and activities that cover these topics, they also have direct access to the instructors, have the opportunity to participate in live online sessions, have access to audio and video lectures, and are able to interact with a talented group of mentors that are recent high school band graduates experienced with the issues that young leaders face.
While we do not discourage students from participating in summer camps and leadership workshops, we do believe that taking a leadership course offers some distinct advantages. The first and most obvious advantage is cost. We have provided a cost comparison page to show how our courses compare to attending some other camps and workshops. Students taking our leadership courses online receive 3 - 4 months of instruction while most camps and workshops last from 2-6 days. Students have time to absorb, process, think, discuss, and question the leadership instruction. Students can also receive help on leadership issues as they are happening in your band program.
To learn more you can view the syllabus of each course by clicking the appropriate link below. As a director you also have the ability to view and monitor your student's progress through each course. Finally we offer significant discounts on the cost of tuition if you register your students as a group. You can view more information about our group registration here.
